Visiting our office for routine hygiene examination appointments is necessary to maintain proper oral health. We know that our office isn’t always your favorite place to visit, but it is important to see us for a hygiene examination and cleaning at least twice a year. Dental anxiety is a very real feeling and can make it difficult for patients to routinely visit our office for cleanings and scheduled treatments. Our team does everything possible to help you feel comfortable while in our office, but there are also some things you can do to help relax before and during your visit. Read on to learn more.
Relax Before Your Visit
It is not uncommon for patients to experience nerves and anxiety before visiting our office. The problem arises when your feelings keep you from seeing us for routine appointments as well as needed treatments. Here are some tips that can help you relax before your appointment and during your visit:
Schedule Your Appointment Wisely
It is best to schedule your appointment during a time that works best for you. If you suffer from anxiety, we don’t recommend scheduling your appointment after a stressful day of work. A morning appointment might be a better option.
Wear Headphones
If you are sensitive to the sounds of the office, we encourage you to wear headphones during treatment to block them out. You can listen to your favorite music, podcast or audiobook to help pass the time.
Be Honest With Us
We encourage our patients to be honest with us about their feelings. We never judge, and we can make suggestions to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable. For example, if you suffer from severe anxiety, we may recommend a sedation dentistry option to help you relax and get the treatment you need.
If you are in need of dental care, contact our office located in Brunswick, GA to schedule an appointment. Please be honest with our team about your feelings when you contact us, and we can determine the best course of action for your appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon!
