For some of our patients, a visit to our office is not something they look forward to with joy and excitement. Many experience nervous feelings or fear over dental procedures and treatments. The situation in the world around us is not helping matters either, but we want to assure you that we are taking every precaution to keep our patients and our staff safe. We want to share some ideas of ways to relax both before and during your next appointment. Continue reading to learn more.
We Want You to Have a Relaxing Experience
The biggest concern with dental anxiety is that many patients will avoid visiting the dentist, resulting in further tooth decay and needed treatments, which only adds to more visits and time in the dentist chair. We want to help make our patients feel comfortable and confident in any treatment or procedure they have done in our office so that they can be proactive with their oral health. There are both relaxation methods that can be done prior to an appointment, as well as things we can do in our office to help you feel comfortable.
Relax at Home
Before your appointment, it is best to put your mind at ease and give yourself time to relax before heading to our office. Scheduling an appointment after working a full day at a stressful job is probably not the most helpful strategy. Limit caffeine and sugar intake, as both have the potential to create jittery feelings. A cup of decaf tea is a great option as a way to relax. It is also beneficial to practice deep breathing methods at home and on the drive to our office to help promote calming feelings.
Relax in Our Office
We strive to offer a high level of comfort to our patients while they are in our office. Each patient suite offers flat screen tv monitors and headphone access. You can sit back and relax while watching your favorite tv show or listening to your favorite calming music. If you are feeling extremely nervous, we can discuss sedation options prior to your appointment.
If you are located in the Brunswick, GA area and need to schedule an appointment for an examination, consultation, or treatment and are feeling a little uneasy or nervous, please contact our office. We can discuss a plan to ensure that you are relaxed and ready for your appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon!
