Would you love to straighten your teeth but have been hesitant to learn more about the process? We are happy to provide Invisalign® as an orthodontic option for our patients. We are able to treat patients right in our office. Now is a great time to learn more about how Invisalign can improve your smile. We want to share more about what you can expect from Invisalign treatment. Read on to learn more.

What to Expect During the Invisalign Process

If you are unfamiliar, Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear aligner trays to slowly transition the teeth into alignment. The trays are removable, allowing patients to eat their favorite foods and clean their teeth with ease. We want to share more about what you can expect from Invisalign treatment:

Consultation

When we meet with you to determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign, we will examine your teeth, jaw, and bite. We will take a series of X-rays and photographs to see the bigger picture. One aspect of Invisalign that patients appreciate is that they are able to see a digital rendering of their teeth during each series of trays. It really helps to visualize the transformation in your teeth and smile. That also helps us determine the length of treatment.

Starting Invisalign

When starting Invisalign, there is less of a transition than with traditional metal braces. Since the trays are removable, there aren’t as many restrictions. The most difficult aspect of starting Invisalign is getting used to talking with the trays in your mouth. It is not uncommon for a patient to have a slight lisp for a few days until they learn how to adjust the way they speak.

During Treatment

Patients love the ability to change their own trays. It limits the number of times they need to be seen in the office, which is ideal for busy adults. While receiving Invisalign treatment, it is important to follow all of our instructions and brush and floss your teeth properly every day. The trays also need to be cleaned according to instructions to prevent bacteria from accumulating in them.
