Common Questions and Answers About Invisalign
Our goal is to help patients better understand treatments they may be interested in learning about. Here are some common questions about Invisalign:
What is Invisalign?
- If you are not familiar, Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligner trays to slowly transition the teeth into the proper alignment. The trays are removable, and we recommend patients wear their trays for as long as possible each day, but no less than 22 hours a day.
Are there food restrictions?
- Unlike traditional metal braces, there are no food restrictions with Invisalign. Since the trays are removable, you are able to enjoy your favorite foods with no complications.
Is it easy to care for your teeth and trays?
- Patients are very pleased with how easy it is to care for their teeth and clean the trays. The trays are removable for brushing and flossing, allowing you to keep your normal daily routine. We will provide specific instructions on how to clean your Invisalign trays to ensure they stay bacteria free and do not become damaged.
Are regular office visits necessary?
- Yes, office visits are required. However, the visits are less frequent than they would be for traditional metal braces. Since the treatment consists of a series of aligners, you do not visit the office each time a new tray is needed. Rather, your visits are more to check on the progress of your treatment.
